Contracts Manager - Small Works

Search Consultancy are working in partnership with a principal contractor who are seeking a Dynamic Contracts Manager to take the lead on their Regional Small Works Division.

This is a rare opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team within a thriving business.

We are looking for experienced Contracts Managers with experience of leading small works projects, specifically up to £500k in value. A typical year would see the manager oversee and lead teams on 10-12 projects a year.

The Role

Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for the day to day running, management and success of the Small Works Division. The role will involve;

* Accountable for drafting, reviewing, pricing and negotiating contracts for the small works divi-sion. Overseeing the contracts from initiation to successful completion.
* Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams to ensure contract compliance.
* Manage and mitigate risks and resolve contractual disputes and any technical issues and que-ries.
* Take a lead on all aspects of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality aspects, ensuring all policies and legislation is adhered to across all projects.
* Manage multiple schemes and site teams, ensuring works are on track to achieve programme and budget.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and legal requirements.
* Stay abreast of market knowledge and spot potential leads for future business opportunities within the department.
* Carry out due diligence before appointing the supply chain, executing financial and competen-cy checks.
* Check training records to ensure operatives / self-employed workers have received the rele-vant training before undertaking works.
* Prepare documentation and reports and take a lead on all audits for the division.
* Collaborate and liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to include Clients, Safety Representatives, Inspectors and Safety Officers and act on recommendations.
* Be an ambassador of the business, always promoting a positive culture and continuously look-ing to improve.


What we are looking for:
* An experienced Contracts Manager with experience of being accountable for a business unit or division within a contracting business, specifically small works or small build / refurbishment projects up to £500k
* A charismatic character, able to engage and lead a team, build rapport with clients and potential clients and resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
* Someone who is ambitious and driven, keen to join a business that is already thriving and play an integral part in growing the business further.
* Health & Safety conscious, able to demonstrate successful delivery of projects.
* Ability to estimate, you will be able to support the commercial team in bids and tenders and price potential projects.
* HND / Degree in Construction Management or related subject
* SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid

This is a permanent position available with the salary between £65k - £70k, plus package which will include a car allowance, pension contribution and discretionary bonus twice a year. This position includes 25 days holiday plus all bank holidays.
