There are many reasons to become a support worker. We’ve listed below just some of them.

1. Support workers change lives

Being a Support Worker means making a positive difference in someone's life. And not just that person, but the lives of their family and friends too. People who need Support Workers are reliant on them to live their daily lives, and by helping people to do this it makes a world of difference.

2. Job satisfaction

Being a Support worker is incredibly rewarding. As well as helping people on a daily basis, many people who work in the sector build lifelong relationships with the people they work. This sense of support also instils in them the sense of personal achievement that gets them up in the morning.

3. Doing something that counts

Working for Search Consultancy as a Support Worker is far more than just a job. It allows you to contribute to your community and help those less able than yourself. 4. Varied work

Much of what a Support Worker does depends very much on the person you are supporting, with the work being tailored to the needs of the person you care for. You might go shopping for them, you might help them in and out of bed and the bath, you might cook their meals and read to them. Every day is different because every client is different.

5. Job security

The demand for Support Workers has increased over the last five years and that’s set to accelerate as Britain’s population ages. Support Workers will always be needed, it’s a job that can only be done by a person and you’ll never be replaced by a new piece of tech. The social care sector offers great job security.

6. Personal development

As a Support Worker you’ll learn a huge amount. As well as the exceptional training you receive from Search Consultancy, you’ll learn so much from the people you work with and the people you work for. Being a Support Worker is an eye-opening experience and provides the chance to work with people from all walks of life with varying needs of support.

7. Career progression

Social care is a rapidly growing sector and the opportunities for career progression are varied. You’ll have the chance to build a career and by becoming a care worker that would be the first step to a rewarding career in social care. You’ll learn transferrable skills and gain training, and with the right ambition you can go right to the top. With experience, you could take on more responsibility as a senior support worker or manager. You could also train as a social worker. With the right attitude and motivation, you can choose your next step.
